Canada’s building sector produces 18% of our greenhouse gas emissions. More than three quarters of that comes from combusting fossil fuels for space and water heating. With emissions from the sector continuing to rise, it’s clear that Canada needs a new approach to decarbonization.

At the Building Decarbonization Alliance, we believe that the most credible, capable, and compelling pathways to building decarbonization will consist of the wide-scale adoption of a full spectrum of electric technologies—especially heat pumps in all of their forms and applications. Our work aims to provide the tools, analysis, and connections needed to speed up the adoption of those technologies.
