Senior Planner, City of Vancouver
Chris has had the opportunity to transform buildings across Canada. His work has spanned voluntary action using rating systems, commercial development, along with writing the first building code in Canada to electrify space heating and hot water. Chris spends his time between the electric utility and the municipality lowering the average electrical service cost and making the electrification underway easier. Chris possesses a well-developed knowledge of energy use in residential buildings and has the experience to know the policy triggers to encourage action.
Chris has worked for the past decade with the City of Vancouver to accelerate better buildings. Chris lead the development of LEED Canada for Homes standard and building a national delivery network during his time with the Canada Green Building Council. Prior to that Chris found his love of better buildings while working as Mountain Equipment Cooperatives store planner. Chris has served on the board of directors for Passive House Canada and is an active volunteer working to improve the built and natural environment. Chris is a Newfoundlander but has made British Columbia his home for the last 25 years.
