Stephane Chayer
Strategic Advisor to the President, Concordia University
Stéphane Chayer (P.Eng., D.I.M) is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in driving organizational transformation and enhancing business performance within globally recognized companies. He holds a degree in mechanical engineering from Polytechnique, with additional certifications in Tribology Friction and Wear from MIT, and Physical Asset Management from the University of Toronto. His academic credentials are further complemented by a diploma in applied management from McGill University, alongside extensive corporate executive leadership training.
Stéphane’s career began in 1989 in small manufacturing family businesses (SMEs), before progressing into the automotive and power transmission sectors, where he spent a decade developing his operational and strategic leadership capabilities. In 2004, he transitioned to the building and infrastructure sector, joining Siemens Canada. As Senior Vice President and Country Business Unit Head until 2021, Stéphane spearheaded initiatives focused on sustainable development, operational efficiency, and organizational growth.
With recognized expertise in decarbonation and the deep retrofit of buildings, Stéphane has been instrumental in leading efforts to reduce carbon footprints and enhance energy efficiency within the built environment. His leadership has been pivotal in developing strategies that align with global sustainability goals.
Since 2022, Stéphane has served as Strategic Advisor to the President of Concordia University, leading the university’s ambitious Plan/NetZero initiative, where he continues to apply his expertise in decarbonation and retrofitting to foster sustainable innovation and environmental leadership.
