Bryan Flannigan

Executive Director

Bryan brings more than three decades of leadership and consulting experience with governments, utilities, and businesses to find technical, program, and policy solutions to reduce emissions and improve the energy efficiency of the built environment. Prior to joining The Transition Accelerator, Bryan played leadership and expert advisor roles with a number of Canada’s leading energy and environmental consulting firms, including ICF International, Posterity Group, and Econoler. He was Senior Manager of Operations at the Federation of Canadian Municipalities, and helped successfully launch the Green Municipal Fund. His early career was built on a foundation of technical and engineering roles including Director of Technical Services at Del Management Solutions and Energy Engineer at Siemens Building Technologies. Bryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ottawa, and is a Professional Engineer licensed in the province of Ontario.

Aaron Ellis

Lower Mainland Distribution Planning Manager, BC Hydro

Aaron Ellis is the Lower Mainland Distribution Planning Manager at BC Hydro. He and his team are responsible for planning BC Hydro’s electrical distribution infrastructure and developing long term capital plans. Aaron has over 20 years of technical and professional experience in distribution planning, distributed energy resources, and project management. He has a Bachelor of Applied Science (University of British Columbia) in Electrical Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, skiing, and spending time in the great outdoors.

Kirk Huntley

Senior Manager, Capacity Planning & Intelligent Grid. Toronto Hydro

Kirk Huntley is the Senior Manager of Capacity Planning and Intelligent Grid at Toronto Hydro. Kirk Leads a team focused on managing the capacity of the distribution gird to safely and effectively connect new customers and distributed energy resources. Kirk joined Toronto Hydro in 2009 as an Electrical Project Engineer in the Stations and Distribution Automation group. In 2015 he moved to Project Development team as a Supervisor responsible for teams conducting the Preliminary Design of both Stations and Distribution projects within the Engineering and Construction Division. Prior to joining Toronto Hydro, Kirk has held roles in design and consulting engineering for the mining and metals extraction industry in Sudbury Ontario where he was responsible for power and automation systems design in both underground and surface mining environments.  

Kirk graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the University of Guyana in 1997. He is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
